This is a rustic fronted woodpecker box. Woodpeckers like to clean out their own
nests and so the lids tend to be fixed

This is a rustic little owl or large bird box. There are other designs which have proved successful like that shown below.

This is a barn owl box for trees. It is a successful design and can also be fixed to the side of a building.

Both boxes here are for tawny owls. The upright box is useful for younger fast growing trees.
